In the year 1969,
Mr. T. Suryanarayana, a visionary from Vijayawada,
emerged as a successful manufacturer of knitted
Garments, thinking ahead of times, the potential
for products with uncompromising quality.
When people were hesitant to enter business,
Mr. Suryanarayana pursued and built up his knitwear
industry with state of art machinery and available
human resources to make Vilan, a Multimillion,
multi-product, Multi-metro Industry. He was
insistent on consistent quality and world class
standard for the products made in his factory.
Vilan Group still remains committed to quality
and continues to be a House of Trust.
It was in the seventies that
Mr. Chandrashekar Rao, the eldest son showed
unparallel interest in the father’s business.
Immediately after his graduation in Commerce,
he moved to Tirupur in Tamilnadu, an Internationally
acclaimed hub for knitted garments in Asia to
learn more about Textile Technology. As he was
doing his supervisory Management in factories,
he learned more about the Technology and had
shown interest in R & D to bring out the
best in quality. It was a learning curve and
was an experimental turn for many of the innovative
products from Vilan. While becoming a powerful
successor of Mr. Suryanarayana, he took on the
entire responsibility of putting up the Modern
Production facility in Vijayawada, the home
town of Vilan and headed the Marketing of Vilan
products in Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Chandrashekar Rao, widened the product
range by introducing Sportswear for aspiring
athletes and sportspersons. Catering to the
growing demand and increasing potential, he
opened 11 Exclusive Show Rooms in different
parts of Andhra Pradesh starting from the twin
cities, Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
Mr. Ramesh Babu, received an over whelming
inspiration from his elder brother to take up
designing, and production planning. He underwent
hardcore training in India and abroad to be
able to support Mr. Chandrashekhara Rao, who
is affectionately addressed as Mr. CSR by one
and all, to take the company successfully forward.
The brand Vilan gained more strength and wider
acceptance for its uncompromising quality under
the leadership of the two brothers.
There were constant trade enquiries from
different parts of the country because of Vilan’s
high quality and reasonably low pricing. However,
knowing the limitations of their resources they
had to regretfully putdown such trade enquiries
from across the Country. The Vilan administration
realized, it is time to exceed the 100 Crores
target to meet the demands of the discerning
people of this country through a massive expansion
through a proven experienced top notch professional
Head. It was at this juncture they were able
to identify Mr. K.P. Chackappan, the present
Vice President Marketing, a management graduate
of IIM Calcutta, the man who has created a revolution
in the Undergarment Industry in India.
Mr. Chackappan successfully launched the Jockey
Brand of undergarments in India, as its founding
Vice President Marketing . He later joined Maxwell
Industries Ltd, the manufacturer of VIP brand
of undergarments and launched their prestigious
premium brand Frenchie X. He has vast marketing
experience and successful maiden launches of
various products in India and abroad, to his
credit. This gives the right assurance that
Vilan products will shortly become a national
phenomenon and the company will exceed the 100
Crore turnover milestone. |
